FAQ
Leopold Health Group Psychology
What will happen when I make contact?
Our friendly administration staff are always happy to answer any questions you may have about the services at Leopold Health Group. We aim to make the first contact as smooth as possible. We are happy to discuss your needs and help you with choosing a psychologist to best match your needs.
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
The majority of our new clients have a referral from their GP, including a referral letter and a Medicare Mental Health Plan. With a Mental Health Plan you are able to access rebates from Medicare. Please note that Medicare only provides rebates for eligible mental health conditions.
You are able to arrange an appointment as a private client, without a referral. Please call our administration team to discuss your specific needs.
What will happen at the first appointment?
At your initial appointment you will meet with your psychologist who will ask you to provide information about yourself, your background and your reasons for seeking assistance. At the end of the session the goals of counselling will be clarified, and there is often a discussion about how these goals will be achieved. Subsequent sessions will focus on achieving your goals of counselling.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies depending on your particular circumstances and the goals of your counselling. Some clients require only a few sessions, while other need longer term treatment. Your psychologist will discuss your treatment plan and the likely number of sessions with you following an assessment period.
Can I access Medicare rebates or private health insurance rebates?
Yes, all psychologists are registered with Medicare and private health insurance providers.
However, you are not able to claim from both Medicare and your private health insurance for the same visit. Which one is best for you will depend on your level of cover provided by your private health insurance policy. The rebate amount and number of sessions covered varies between different providers. Please check with your insurance provider for information about your level of cover.
Fees for consultations at Leopold Health Group are payable at the time of consultation by EFTPOS or direct BSB transfer. We are able to assist you with processing of Medicare and Private Health Rebates.
